Shinigami to know. It's noted to be very similar to Sonído used by Arrancar. It's still unclear as to how a Shinigami is able to use Hohō, but it's likely that it's to do with the Shinigami's ability to walk on air using Spiritual Energy. By collecting and solidifying Reishi beneath their feet, A Shinigami is able to successfully walk on this air and thus able to freely move about and stop themselves from falling.
- Shunpo (瞬歩, Flash steps), is a technique that allows a Shinigami to move faster than the eye can follow. The one thing that a Shinigami must learn and is the focal point of the technique is that of speed. Considering this technique is focused on Speed, the ability to use Shunpo relies solely on a characters ability on how fast they can travel from point A to point B in the least amount of steps. Both training and skill, therefore, determine how fast a Shinigami can travel. Those who have little skill using this technique and haven't used it for extensive periods of time are understandably slower than more advanced users, as it takes them more steps to get to a different location, and usually become winded during a shorter amount of time.
- Senka ((閃花, Flash Blossom) is a special type of Shunpo that causes the user to appear behind the foes back. This allows them to directly attack ones "Saketsu" and "Hakusui" on one, swift strike. Depending on the level of the user, the attack may be executed with such speed that the opponent may not be able to tell which direction they are being attacked from, and those observing may find it impossible to see the attack even being used.
- Way of Onmitsu, 3rd of the Shihō
- Utsusemi (空蝉, Cicada), it's a movement that is so fast that it leaves an 'imprint' or 'afterimage' behind. In cases, the afterimage has been shown to be able to take damage and even bleed. One of the first people seen using this technique was Espada Séptima, Zommari Leroux.
The mastery of using Hohō can be enhanced and improved through concentration and training. Those who show exceptional skill in using this techique are usually assigned to join the Onmitsukidō.
